Real Acting for Unreal Worlds is a 3-week online acting intensive led by Arianna Ratner, designed to help actors bring grounded emotional truth into the heightened, chaotic, and fantastical worlds of modern video games. This class is all about the real acting work: presence, inner life, emotional honesty, and lived-in choices that anchor even the wildest scenes. Learn how to make meaningful decisions from minimal copy, navigate nonlinear storytelling, tap into emotional stakes when context is thin, and craft characters who feel authentic — even when the world they’re in is anything but. If you’re looking to elevate your video game reads with depth, humanity, and emotional clarity, this class shows you how. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN • How to act truthfully in worlds that are chaotic, fantastical, or impossible • Creating emotional presence from scripts that offer limited information • Acting choices that help players feel your character instantly • The internal work: motivation, breath, tension, and emotional focus • Bringing humanity into action-heavy or high-stakes scenes • Making supporting roles and NPCs feel lived-in and specific • Building emotional stakes without pushing or over-performing • What “real acting” looks like in an Unreal Engine world About Arianna: Arianna Ratner is a voice director, voice actor, and coach who comes from a traditional acting background (BFA NYU Tisch School of the Arts), incorporating those tools into her work and teaching. She can be heard in Dead by Daylight, Spiderman 2, Diablo 4, Teamfight Tactics, Cookie Run Kingdom, Fallout 76: The Pitt, Saint's Row, Lost Ark, World of Warcraft Dragonflight, Legion, and Battle for Azeroth, Elder Scrolls Online, The Sims 4, in The Baby Shark Brooklyn series, and many more projects. She is the only woman ever to have voiced Cinemax promos, and has also voiced promos for Food Network, Comedy Central, Pluto TV, Fox, Max, CNN, Animal Planet, Disney, A&E, and affiliate work for ABC/KSBW-TV. She has voice-directed games such as Metal Slug, Tarisland, Eggy Party, Dunk City Dynasty, and more.

NOTE: You will receive both a confirmation email right after you register and a reminder email 24 hours before the class. The emails will contain all the information needed to prepare you for class. If you cannot locate your confirmation email, please check your spam folder or promotions tab (gmail) before contacting us! Policies for Online Classes: • All classes are recorded, and links to view or download them are provided to all enrolled students within three days after the class. • If, for any reason, you can not make the date/time of class, you will still be given access to view the entire workshop with the recorded video. Equipment and Attendance: • Professional gear is not required, but students must have a phone, tablet, or computer with reliable access to Zoom, a camera, and audio. • Cameras are mandatory for class and must be turned on for the duration of the beginning portion of class. Once attendance is taken and class has started, cameras may be turned off at the discretion of the instructor. Cancellation Policy: • Payment is only refundable if cancelled at least 72 hours before the event. Funds will be returned to the original form of payment. • If cancellation occurs prior to 48 hours before the start of the event, but less than 72 hours before the event, payment will be nonrefundable, but may be rolled over to another workshop. • For any cancellation occurring less than 48 hours before the start of the workshop, payment will be forfeited.
