About Your Class:
British Accents Workshop with Karen Strassman (Online) From polished RP to gritty street dialects, British accents are some of the most requested—and most misplayed—skills in voiceover. In this focused, hands-on workshop, you’ll break down the core British dialects commonly needed for animation, anime, and video games. Learn how to move beyond “generic British” and make specific, believable choices that actually land in the booth. Led by Karen Strassman, known for her extensive work across anime, video games, and global dubbing, this class gives you practical tools you can immediately apply in auditions and sessions. In this workshop, you’ll: Learn foundational placement, rhythm, and vowel shifts across key British dialects Practice with VO copy in a live, directed setting Avoid common pitfalls that make accents sound inauthentic Build confidence switching between dialects with intention Expect a supportive, play-forward environment where you can experiment, take risks, and lock in accents that feel natural - not forced. Perfect for voice actors working (or wanting to work) in animation, anime, and video games where British dialects show up constantly. If you cannot locate your confirmation email, please check your spam folder or promotions tab (gmail) before contacting us! Policies for Online Classes: • All classes are recorded, and links to view or download them are provided to all enrolled students within three days after the class. • If, for any reason, you can not make the date/time of class, you will still be given access to view the entire workshop with the recorded video. Equipment and Attendance: • Professional gear is not required, but students must have a phone, tablet, or computer with reliable access to Zoom, a camera, and audio. • Cameras are mandatory for class and must be turned on for the duration of the beginning portion of class. Once attendance is taken and class has started, cameras may be turned off at the discretion of the instructor. Cancellation Policy: • Payment is only refundable if cancelled at least 72 hours before the event. Funds will be returned to the original form of payment. • If cancellation occurs prior to 48 hours before the start of the event, but less than 72 hours before the event, payment will be nonrefundable, but may be rolled over to another workshop. • For any cancellation occurring less than 48 hours before the start of the workshop, payment will be forfeited.
