Hosted on Zoom October 28th, 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm Limited to 8 participants 18+ Workshop Overview: Discovering how to isolate and activate rough or extreme vocal effects can be tricky without a knowledgeable guide. The entry point for activating a specific vocal effect is rarely the same from person to person, which is why this workshop is structured to give every participant direct, individual attention. Each participant will receive around 30 minutes of focused one-on-one work, during which the instructor helps them discover the entry points for each effect, provides corrections, and tailors guidance to their unique physiology and vocal tendencies. While one participant is receiving individual feedback, the rest of the group benefits by observing, since the advice and corrections often apply across different effects. This creates a learning environment where everyone not only progresses through their own exploration, but also gains valuable insights from the experiences of others. In this workshop, participants will work one-on-one to explore and activate specific vocal effects. Each participant can choose which effects to focus on, making the training personalized and flexible. Depending on their choices, we will explore: Key Topics Covered • Ventricular fold distortions • Ingressive distortions • Aryepiglottic fold distortions • Uvular thrills • Soft palate and pharyngeal wall tissue distortions • Epiglottic distortions Participants leave with the ability to isolate and activate specific vocal structures, including the ventricular folds, aryepiglottic folds, uvula, soft palate, pharyngeal wall tissue, and epiglottis, gaining confidence to apply these effects in their own practice. About Your Instructor: Sebastien Croteau has worked as a creature voice actor for over 19 years. He is intimately familiar with the world of creatures and monsters, having voiced over 400 of them across more than 40 films and video games. Sebastien began voice direction in 2017 and has since served as a voice and casting director for over 20 video games. Disclaimer: This workshop is a learning experience. Policies for Online Classes: • All classes are recorded, and links to view or download them are provided to all enrolled students within three days after the class. • If, for any reason, you can not make the date/time of class, you will still be given access to view the entire workshop with the recorded video. Equipment and Attendance: • Professional gear is not required, but students must have a phone, tablet, or computer with reliable access to Zoom, a camera, and audio. • Cameras are mandatory for class and must be turned on for the duration of the beginning portion of class. Once attendance is taken and class has started, cameras may be turned off at the discretion of the instructor. Cancellation Policy: • Payment is only refundable if cancelled prior to 72 hours before the event. Funds will be returned to the original form of payment. • If cancellation occurs prior to 48 hours before the start of the event, but less than 72 hours before the event, payment will be nonrefundable, but may be rolled over to another workshop. • For any cancellation occurring less than 48 hours before the start of the workshop, payment will be forfeited.
